About Prinsjesdag
As stipulated in the constitution, Prinsjesdag or “Princes’ Day” takes place every year on the third Tuesday of September. On this day, his Majesty the King reads the Speech from the Throne that outlines the government policy for the year ahead. Prinsjesdag has great ceremonial significance as well. Prior to the Speech from the Throne, a royal procession moves from Noordeinde Palace to the seat of the Dutch Senate, the Ridderzaal in The Hague, for a joint session of Parliament and Senate. Thousands of people line the route to catch a glimpse of the King.
This year, the King will read the Speech from the Throne from de Grote Kerk in The Hague, to guarantee sufficient social distance between the 225 attendants from Parliament, Senate and the Cabinet members.
Please note that approximately one week before the start of the event we will inform you about health & safety precautions and procedures during the event to comply with the then applicable government regulations. As a result of same, we reserve the right to limit the number of participants based on first come, first serve.
